In shadows cast by shattered trust,

A heart once open, now encased in rust.

From friendships lost, and love betrayed,

A weary soul stands, emotions frayed.

Once, like a child, so full of glee,

Believed in bonds so pure and free.

But now, a caution grips the heart,

To keep connections far apart.

The scars of the past, run so deep,

A wounded heart, its secrets keep.

No longer able to take the chance,

On fragile ties of mere romance.

Oh, broken trust, you thief of light,

You cloak the day in endless night.

With every smile, a doubt remains,

As past betrayals leave their stains.

Yet deep within, a flicker glows,

A tiny hope, a seed that grows.

For in the darkness, light finds ways,

To heal the hurt of yesterdays.

To mend the trust, a slow rebirth,

Requires courage, strength, and worth.

With time, the wounds may start to mend,

And new connections may ascend.

So let us learn from what's been lost,

To cherish trust, no matter the cost.
